Copper is a living material: it changes naturally as you wear it. With a few simple habits it stays beautiful for a long time.
Everyday use
Wipe your copper jewellery with a soft, dry cloth after wearing it. Avoid prolonged contact with perfume, body lotion, chlorine and sea water, as these can discolour it.
Cleaning
A little lemon juice and salt, or a copper cleaner and a soft cloth, is all you need. Then rinse with lukewarm water and dry thoroughly.
A greenish mark on the skin?
When copper comes into contact with the acids and sweat on your skin, it can temporarily leave a greenish mark. This is natural, harmless and washes off with soap and water.
Patina
Over time copper takes on a darker, warmer tone. If you prefer a bright finish, you can bring it back with the cleaning method above.
Copper cups and jugs
Wash by hand with a soft sponge. Don't put them in the dishwasher, and don't store acidic drinks (lemon juice, vinegar, fruit juice) in them for long.
Storage
Store in a dry place, ideally in a separate pouch so it doesn't get scratched.
